League History
Back in 1908 a century ago, there was an exhibition match between the semi-pro local team, the St. Petersburg Saints and the Cincinnati Reds. Charlotte Baseball first real spring training began in 1913 Chicago Cubs took residence in Tampa. In the same year the Cleveland Indians trained in Pensacola. Grapefruit league became the summer home of five teams by the end of 1914. Spring training in Charlotte Baseball became the hit of the season.
