It was victorious over Yugoslavia, managed a draw with Honduras, but was defeated by Northern Ireland. However they managed it to make it to round two where they had to compete with England & West Germany. But disappointingly, Spain did not make it further. Similarly Spain was even knocked out of the 2002 World Cup.
